    Statement
    ------------------------------------------------------
Having served as a proposed commissioner nominee for the past several months, I am more aware of the responsibilities the position entails, and I believe I am better prepared for the job. I will continue my commitment to help reinstate the State Commission of Indian Affairs and to assure that the interests and concerns of Native Americans in TN are addressed. The past few months have proven that in spite of the great diversity of abilities and opinions among us, we can work together to achieve our goals. Great friendships have been forged, healthy working relationships have occurred, and much unity has been achieved, and I believe all three are necessary for any organization to be successful. I am encouraged and energized with the opportunity to have been of service and wish to continue to serve.

    Statement
    ------------------------------------------------------
In the time I have been associated with TNNAC, I have learned a lot about the vision that this organization has developed and I believe that it can...and will...be a great benefit to all the Tribal People in the state of Tennessee and possibly bring all the many groups together in a manner which has never been seen before. I would very much like to be a part of that. I am willing to place myself at the disposal of the People to help in any way that I can. I do not look on this position as a way to place myself "above" anyone, but rather as a way to be a servant...to help where I am needed and assist in any capacity that needs to be filled. I would deem it an honor to serve you.

I have been very active in the past with the Reelfoot Girl Scout Council. I have served as Day Camp Director for 3 years and as Camp Photographer and Arts and Crafts Councelor for Camp Hazelwood on the Kentucky Lake. I have also acted as Fund Raising Chairman for the Gibson County area. I have discontinued my involvement with any other organizations to devote most of my spare time to TNNAC. I have attended most of the meetings over the past year and have been at Legislative Plaza assisting our lobbying effort for several weeks during this year. I have also been spearpointing the efforts to get donations of money and materials for our convention in September at Pinson Mounds.

    Statement
    ------------------------------------------------------
First of all, I care deeply about Native Americans and I have an interest in helping the Indians in Tennessee to have their past history and contributions recognized. By being a commissioner, maybe this is a way I can help bring that about. I believe I have the time to devote to whatever the job requires. It has been good for me to meet and know many other Indians through Powwows and attending the meetings of the WTN caucus and to learn all I can from them about all our combined heritage. We seem to all share the same concern that we need to help each other find our roots and work together.
